The gardens have finally succumbed to the cold weather & the handfuls of cilantro, chervil, sage, mints, & parsley are now quite popsicle-ish! Until next season ... but there are handcrafted products galore available, & at some new locations!!
There are plenty of plants still for sale - many gorgeous perennials at a very fair price! Now buy one - get one! Those which are still available are listed in the Spring potted seedlings section below. If you go back to the top of the page - there is a clickable link which will bring you there. I wouldn't suggest planting now, as the ground begins to harden.
Grass Fed Beef: There are still quite a few cube steaks left - usually $4.50 per pound - now reduced to $4.00 per pound!!

About Dégagé Gardens:
Dégagé**Gardens is a small organic market farm located in bucolic Rockaway, NJ in historic Morris County, which serves the local area with its' herbs, flowers, and vegetables - available potted (in the Spring), fresh (during the Late Spring, Summer & early Fall) & dried (in the Fall). My wholesale customers are primarily health food stores, restaurants, & florists within a 25 mile radius of the farm. Call me to place an order (for delivery or pick-up), ask a question ... I'll return your call within 48 hours (usually less than 24!). Contact by e-mail .... well, can't make any sort of guarantee there. Just call, ok?!!
My customers appreciate my motto: "The day it's picked is the day it's delivered". My customers' feedback is extremely important to me, and in response to their needs, I still have many heirloom varieties this year and several more herbs and veggies. (What's an heirloom?: It's any variety which has been passed down over the years for its' beneficial characteristics: flavor, texture, storage life, and/or resistance to insects, drought, and extreme weather. They are the survivors that we seek out & keep around! They are open pollinated - which means that you can save the seed!). My everchanging landscape continuously welcomes new varieties. This year, I'm proud to offer 142 varieties (60 herbs, 37 flowers & 35 veggies) with 23 of these being Heirloom varieties (9 herbs, 4 flowers & 10 veggies). This year I'm offering 27 varieties of herbs which posess medicinal qualities. The majority of my seeds and rootstock come from certified organic farms in Maine, where biodiversity and biodynamics run rampant and gardening reigns supreme. I use only certified organic seeds, soil, fertilizers, and amendments, and control "pests" with handpicking, trap plants, predatory insects, companion planting, and fencing edged with rock for the 4-legged ones! I am a self-certified grower who'll never use any GMO products, pesticides or herbicides. My environmentally friendly approach is apparent throughout our production: from recycled/recyclable pots and produce clamshells; produce deliveries made in tubs which are returned the following week clean & overflowing with freshness; identification tags, signs, and photo cards made from recycled paper; to biodegradable cellulose bags for packaging my simmering potpourris, body wraps, potpourris, sachets, mesclun mixes, and dried herbs, chiles, & tomatoes. My fabrics are hand chosen to ensure that they were made in the USA!

I am presently offering my hardy herb & flower seedlings which have overwintered outside last year & are doing so again! Many are already potted up & ready for sale, & I also offer the option of allowing customers to chose which seedlings they want, which can be dug at the time of sale ~ not now ~ but will offer again in spring. My wineberries (think really sweet raspberries if you've never had their extreme pleasure!) typically are ready for harvest mid-late July, and are pickable for approximately 2 - 3 weeks thereafter - mother nature depending!

I've gotten inquiries about heating the eye pillows & body wraps.
The old fashioned way: Set under pet for 15 minutes.
Conventional way: Place in oven after you use it to bake & oven is off & cooling. Or, wrap in aluminum foil & place in 350 - 400 degree oven for 10 - 15 minutes. Don't forget to use those oven mitts!
Microwave method: 30 - 60 seconds on high: all microwaves vary: so, use your discretion & use caution!

I have steady customers for this skincream who use it to help relieve shingles, stretch marks, reduce scarring...
I take cups of my fresh organic calendula flowers and pour organic cold pressed (first press - which retains more nutrients!) olive oil over it. Each day, I shake it & every few weeks strain off the old calendula & add new. I repeat this process until i have a strongly infused oil. I add pure filtered Beeswax and some organic grapefruit seed extract as a preservative. I offer this in 2 1/4" diameter x 2" high cobalt blue glass jars with black plastic screw on lids. Please note: Since I use fresh flowers, this product can run out as the year winds down. IT is also listed under the Winter: While Supplies Last section. They are hand picked at the peak of flavor; hung to dry; stripped gently by hand; then placed in a dehydrator for 1/2 hour below 95 degrees to ensure they've dried & to maintain the most essential oils and flavor! POTPOURRI TINS: Dried Organic Flowers & Herbs are artfully arranged in 2 3/4" diameter (one inch deep) aluminum glass-topped tins, & scented with essential oils. Two holes are drilled in the side of the tin to release a wonderful scent. Some folks say they take the lid off when they want a stronger scent & simply prop the lid on the tins' edge!

GRASS FED BEEF!
My new supplier is located down near Princeton, NJ:

Picked up some chuck roasts, ground beef, chirizo sausage, eggs, and bacon for myself: all were delicious: superb! I thought my last supplier had good stuff. This is a huge step above! And, more cuts from which to choose. They also carry lamb & pork!
I will periodically be driving down to restock my own freezer & since it is a long drive (approx 60 miles each way), I will call you (only if you ask me, & give me your number!!) before going if you want & get your order. There are still some cube steaks (now $4.00/pound) available, for anyone who is interested.
LOCAL ORGANIC HONEY & HANDMADE PHOTO CARDS!!
HONEY:
Four (or is it 5 now?!) summers ago, a local beekeeper brought me some of his honey. It was sooooo good that I'm selling it for him. The honey is never heated or processed: leaving more nutrients which boost your immunity to local allergens. Hives are located throughout Rockaway, Denville & West Milford.
Dave's honey is sold out! One pound glass jars were $5.00. Two pound jars will not be coming. Sadly, for us (great for him!), Dave's in the process of moving to upstate NY. The bees will be needing all that honey for their transition & colder winter. Thanks Dave for sharing your liquid gold with us all these years! You & it will truly be missed.
I have contacted another honey person who is local to see if I can get her honey here. She is a friend of Dave's who has the same high standards he holds. She does not do wholesale at this time, but has placed me on her list ~ as she's doubling her hives this year & may need outlets. I will keep you all posted on that.
While waiting for Dave's honey, I located another local honey: Mapledale Honey. It is a wildflower honey & is never heated, which retains the natural enzymes & some of the pollen. It is triple filtered. The beekeeper, Terry, uses Canadian methods to control possible mites in his hives which are located throughout Morris & Sussex counties. I was carrying his 12 oz squeeze bears ($3.25), 1 pound glass jars ($4.00), and 2 pound glass jars ($7.50). 'Til spring!
Honey treatment is called apitherapy & includes boosting energy, increasing stamina & strengthening those whose immune systems are weak from stress or illness.
There are so many benefits to honey ... I'll list a few more.
Relieve indigestion.
Disinfectant (inhibine kills germs & prevents infections).
Helps dissolve mucus!
Allergy relief (grains of pollen in honey may have a desensitizing effect)
& hay fever relief (this is where the LOCAL honey is most helpful!!)
Respiratory relief (Mix with 1 tsp of fresh chopped thyme & take orally: soothes inflamed airways).
Relaxing Bath: Use 1 - 2 tbsp. & couple of drops of lavender oil in bathwater.
Honey “can be used in diverse ways from baked goods to a topping for cereal to a glaze for meat to a sweetener for tea. When substituting honey for sugar in a recipe, add one cup honey in place of each cup of sugar called for, and reduce the amount of liquid in the recipe by 1/4 cup for each cup of honey added. (Note: because honey has more sweetening power than sugar, a reduced quantity of honey may be appropriate - adjust per your taste). Recipes containing honey need to be beaten longer and more vigorously than sugar recipes, and when baking with honey, add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda for each cup of honey used and lower the temperature by 25 degrees. Honey batter becomes crisp and browns faster than sugar batter. The floral source of the honey should be considered when cooking with honey since honey will impart some of it's flavor (darker, stronger honeys will allow more of a honey taste to come through in your finished product). Each roll of film I take, I have doubles printed. The best of these doubles, I mount on one of 20 coloured cardstocks. This makes them truly one of a kind! Each photos' focus seemingly pops when it meets its appropriate background! All cards are hand-signed, dated, & placed in see-through jackets with an envelope. Photos measure 3 1/2" x 5" ... Cards measure 4 1/2" x 6 1/4"
